New bee colonies on 3 to 6 frames with naturally mated Ligustica queens
We offer new bee colonies on 3 to 6 frames (Dadan-Blatt 450 mm x 300 mm) with naturally mated queens to alleviate worries about introduction of new queens in your apiary. New bee colonies can be picked up only at Plānupes street 11A, Inčukalns, Inčukalns parish, Sigulda district, Latvia.
The price includes: naturally mated Ligustica queen 20 EUR plus 3 to 6 frames (brood combs and honey comb) x 14.50 EUR/per frame.
Upon receiving the new colony, you will additionally have to pay a deposit of 35 EUR for the swarm box in order to transport the bee colony. When returning the swarm box, the deposit will be returned.
The new bee colonies will be available in limited quantities starting in late June or early July. Orders will be fulfilled in queue, so we invite beekeepers to reserve new bee colonies now by placing an order. We will stop accepting orders at a certain number of ordered bee colonies.
All queens are reared from breeder queens, tested in our apiaries. Upon receiving the queens, the beekeeper will also receive information on the origin of the queens.
Ligustica bee colonies:
- Form strong, large colonies,
- Excellent foragers when nectar is widely available in nature,
- Winter consumption of food is uneconomical, overwinter worse than other races in severe winters (Finnish-Italian queens have better wintering ability),
- Are very gentle during the working procedures,
- Have low tendency to swarm,
- Greater tendency to rob than other races, if there is low or no nectar in nature.
